Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle of red wine (choose a robust and fruity variety)

  • 1 orange, sliced

  • 8 whole cloves

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 4 tablespoons of honey (adjust according to your preferred sweetness)

  • Optional: a splash of brandy or rum for an extra kick

Instructions:

  1. Pour the red wine into a large saucepan and place it over low heat.

  2. Add the sliced orange, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and Honey. Stir gently to combine.

  3. Allow the mixture to heat gently, but avoid boiling it, as high heat can affect the flavour of the wine.

  4. Let the wine simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the spices to infuse and the flavours to meld together.

  5. If desired, add a splash of brandy or rum for additional warmth and depth of flavour. Stir gently.

  6. Once heated to your desired temperature, remove the saucepan from the heat and strain the Glühwein to remove the spices and orange slices.
